Hitlinks is a paid for stats service with a 30-day trial period that was highlighted in this forum (twice, unless I'm mistaking).

An alternative to Google Analytics serves two purposes:

    • Stat junkies can get an alternative source of stats that plays well with WP-Cache and scales to higher traffic levels without hammering their database server
    • Stealth junkies can get proper stats without letting Big Brother (i.e. Google) know they're investigating dirty SEO tactics

Attached is a plugin I cooked up earlier today that integrates hitslink in a WordPress blog. It works much the same as the Google Analytics plugin, i.e. you paste their generic code with your id in the box, and the plugin takes care of the rest from there.

I'm still waiting for their techies to confirm that I got the syntax properly, and I've yet to test it on a live site. But anyway, assuming the syntax works as expected, you should be able to see the following:

    • WP pages referenced by their url when fancy urls are enabled
    • 404, searches and newsletter subscriptions as fake urls

The plugin will not track your own moves on the site when you are logged in.

To install, upload the hitslink folder to your plugins folder, i.e. like:

    wp-content/plugins/hitslink/

    Enjoy,
    Denis

I've got the latest version of SEM and WP installed - and the Hitslink plugin is installed and activated as well. However, I cannot locate the interface of the plugin anywhere.

When I look under DESIGN>WIDGETS - there is no instance of the Hitslink plugin under any of the "Current Widgets" dropdowns. And no instance of Hitslink occurs (to be activated) on the "Semiologic Features" page.

How do I get this to work?

    Please advise
