I was horrified this morning to find that one of my Google Alerts reported to me on my posting on this forum - because I had used one of the Alert keywords in my post.

I would have presumed that forum.semiologic.com was password protected and therefore not readable by the search engines(?)
On thinking it through I guess that any time a users Admin menu is open on a blog there are links through to the back end and from there the link leads to Community/this forum. Or maybe there is a simpler reason.

It was a salutary lesson for me. Can someone give me a more authoritative explanation of what security is or is not present?

    Regards

If you google "semiologic forum" you will find that it is indeed indexed. And if you google your user name, chances are you will find links to posts on this forum.

you will find that the headers/titles are indexed & if you are permanently logged into semiologic forum then naturally when you click on the link you will be able to see the post - if you're not logged you will/should be directed to the log in page

at least that's what i've found
