Please DO NOT upgrade to WordPress 2.6. There is a serious permalink bug and potential Plugins security exploit that need to be fixed. WP 2.6.1 is in the works. SLP 5.6 Beta will be released available after these are fixed. - Mike

    Mike,
Just curious, will there be any changes or added features to SP? Or will this just be the WP upgrade and some bug fixes?

    Thanks
    James

    James,

There will be a bunch of fixes to SLP, WP 2.6.1, some new plugins such as TinyMCE Advance, Category Order, OZH Comments.

    Steve,

That is correct. One of the things we need to change moving forward is communicating changes better. The widget contexts in 5.5 did result in some changes. Most of the direction (good and bad) was at Denis' "whim". In the future, that will be changing.

Which widget(s) went away (besides the WSA?).

probably a stupid question but how do I not upgrade. When I go to my login screen a page comes up that basically says I have to unless there is a way around that page.

    @ John

try deactivating the plugin version checker.

On another note semi pro users should never upgrade wp and semi separately, when semiologic gets upgraded it always has the latest version of wp bundled into it.

there is no plugin version checker when I go into wordpress before I add sempro.

I'm getting upgrade page whether sempro is installed or not.

How do other people bypass the upgrade?

Sorry I didn't realize that you haven't installed semi yet. Just install the entire semiologic file over your wp install.

Don't worry about the upgrade message, it's just a message, doesn't mean you have to upgrade.

    To answer your question

How do other people bypass the upgrade?

    By ignoring it.

I think John may be referring to the database upgrade screen after you have done an update.

yea, I'm talking about the screen that shows up when I go to login.

It doesn't give me a choice I either hit the upgrade button or close my browser. I get this wheter semi pro is installed or not.

The message to upgrade your database is given anytime a new version of WordPress is installed that uses a different database structure. You should only get this message upon an initial install of WordPress using cPanel or when manually loading a new version of Semiologic. In this instance, you should click upgrade to make the database version agree with the version of WordPress that was installed.

What you want to ignore is the message in your admin that advises you that your version of WordPress is outdated and needs to be upgraded. As Paul stated, this should never be done. Instead, wait for the release of the version of Semiologic which contains the tweaked version of WordPress.

As of now, the most up-to-date version of Semiologic is 5.5 rc-3 with the included tweaked WordPress version 2.5.1, and no further upgrade is available until the release of Semiologic 5.6 later this month

I installed WP from my host and it is 2.6. It isn't working when I upload semi. Any ideas as to how I fix this new blog now?

I made 3 installations yesterday using the same procedure. When you log in the admin panel, you get a statement that your database needs upgrading, and a clickable link that says Upgrade WordPress. This is somewhat incorrect since it only updates the database.

    Or

You can delete the database created by the cPanel install and recreate with the same name, user name and password, and go from there.
